The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part of being a nanny is compassion. I don’t yell at kids, I don’t write off their crying as a way for attention or annoyance. I am compassionate and I listen to each and every story. I assess based on that current situation and not on what they usually do (as we all know about the boy who cried wolf). I encourage talking IHG feelings instead of acting on them. I believe in teaching rationalization, and that children can learn how to have control over their emotions and be great leaders at any age.
My experience with special needs children...
I have a cousin who is special needs he is 6. I tend to let the child show me who they are first so that I can assist them to their preference. I set up a routine that makes them feel like they too have a say in how they are cared for.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My last child Kaden was a very shy middle schooler he didn’t have much friends. He had his 13th birthday and his parents were on a business trip and therefore it was just me and him. I got to his house early and decorated it with parental permission of course. Long story short I enjoyed throwing Kaden a surprise party although it was just us 2 you would have thought he had a whole house full of other kids with how much fun he had. He especially loved the cake!!
