More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have past occupational experience as a child advocate working at a child advocacy center for 3 years prior to relocating back to my hometown in Westfield, NJ. In this position, I cared for children and their families who were victims of abuse and who were working with law enforcement, social workers and also mental health therapists. I was responsible for making kids feel comfortable and at ease during an extremely difficult time in their lives.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Activities in no particular order: swimming (especially the baby splash pad at Memorial pool) or swimming in general, anything outside no matter the weather: baby’s love stomping in rain puddles, jumping in leaves, nice sunny days at parks (my favorites are: Greenside, Mindowaskin, Ponderosa Farms (the splash pad there is also super fun for kids)! Stroller walks around the neighborhood, sports outside (kicking soccer ball, shooting hoops, practicing t-ball etc) I love crafts of every type, whether indoor or setting up outside! Eating lunch outside especially with friends at a picnic. I love cooking, especially teaching kids how to cook/bake. Music, dancing, imaginative play, sensory/educational play. I’m a huge reader and not just at bedtime! I love the Westfield library! I’ve done classes with kids at My Gym/Small Town Play Cafe.
The most important part about being a nanny...
There’s no single answer to this question. As a nanny, you’re that child’s role model. They look up to you, respect you, come to you with questions and for help… you’re there to teach them right from wrong and help them learn and grow into the best version of themselves. It’s also the most special part about being a nanny.. is getting to be able to see them learn and grow up. It’s amazing to know you’re a part of their educational and emotional development.
My experience with special needs children...
My sister is a special needs child and I’ve helped take care of her throughout her life.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment is when the baby who I watched full time said my name for the first time. She was 18 months old, and it just touched my heart as I hugged her. Seeing her grow up from when she was only 7 months old has been a gift itself. At 22 months now, she has grown and learned so much, and I’m grateful to have been such a huge part of her life.
