A little bit about me

My name is Eiryn, and I have had a passion for working with children since I was one myself! I currently work part time as a mental health counselor online. I have specialities in play therapy and child development. I began babysitting when I was 13, and became a nanny when I was 17. I worked as a nanny from 17 through 23. Once I graduated with my master's, I worked at a clinic that specialized in play therapy for both neurotypical and neurodivergent children.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have a plethora of experience with kiddos! Up until recently (when I moved to online counseling) I was a play therapist for two separate companies beginning in 2022 until August 2024. Before that, I was a nanny all throughout my college experience. I worked with multiple ages from infants all the way to age 24. Throughout high school, I was a VBS counselor and di the occasional babysitting.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Kids can make anything fun, but my all time favorite activities are imaginary play, dance parties, and encouraging/helping kiddos try new physical activities (monkey bars, climbing, somersaults!)

The most important part about being a nanny...

Creating a safe and nurturing environment. As a nanny, you are a not only responsible for their physical safety, but also their mental safety to! A child should feel smart, kind, and important, and nanny's should contribute to that!

My experience with special needs children...

In 2020 I worked with a special needs adult who had Autism Spectrum Disorder, along with seizures. Beginning in 2022 until 2024, I worked at a counseling center that specialized in helping neurodivergent children.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Too many to count! I still smile when I see old pictures! My first nanny child was about 6 months old when I first started nannying him. He loved it when I sang to him! He had a favorite nursery rhyme, "Teddy bear, Teddy Bear" it had both words and made up dance moves/actions to go with it. He was mostly non-verbal, but he would get so excited to sing along, and he was so confident when he sang it. The fact that I got to share in his confidence and pride in his accomplishment still makes me smile to this day.
