Hello, my name is Elizabeth Serkova. I am passionate, kind, and nurturing, especially regarding children, so I have chosen my career to center around child care. Currently, I am working on becoming the best teacher I can be so that all students feel included and welcomed in my class. I am also finishing my last year at Kingsborough as an early education major from birth to second grade. With this, I dream of being an excellent teacher who will bring out the best success in her students. While learning and proceeding with school, I would like to find a job where I can show my skills in child care. I would also like a job where I can acquire new skills and experiences with children. When working with kids, I am creative and fast at problem-solving, which allows me to be quick on my feet. I am also very caring and supportive, allowing me to connect with children and create a comfortable learning atmosphere.

Hello. My name is Elizabeth Serkova. I am currently finishing my associate's degree in Early Childhood Education at CUNY Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn, NY. I am also enrolled in Brooklyn College to start this fall semester for my bachelor's in Early Childhood Education. I finished all my EDC courses with an overall GPA of 3.4 and am working on two asynchronous electives this summer, so I have space for a part-time job or position. I recently had fieldwork for the spring semester as a student teacher for a kindergarten class at P.S. 321. During this time, I helped manage and assist the classroom. I also worked on creating lesson plans because my professors observed me. I have Certifications in School Age Child Care, Identifying and Reporting Child Abuse and Maltreatment, and Foundations in Health and Safety e-Learning. I also completed a workshop on the Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) at Kingsborough.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My highlights from being a student teacher were getting to know and build connections with all my students. Seeing their personalities and how our relationship grew throughout those few months was wonderful. The best part was seeing my students enjoy school and the learning process. Seeing how much progress they've made and continue to make is fascinating because it demonstrates the power of education and the importance of being a good educator. I am more than thankful to have had those moments with them.
