My name is Anastasia and I am a recent graduate from the University of Washington with a Bachelor in Arts. My specific degree was International Studies (with a focus in Political Economy) and a minor in law. I graduated cum laude, or with honors, and believe that education is core to an individuals success. Eventually, I would like to focus on International Children's Law and have had the privilege of studying this subject previously in Cambodia. During my college experience, I have worked for 4 wonderful families who I highly respect and have formed lasting relationships with. Currently, I continue to work for two families, each with three children ranging in ages 3-12. The schedules for both families is very flexible and I work around the parents needs/schedules. My responsibilities include cleaning up after the kids, meal preparation, driving them to and from sporting events, helping them with their studies, and of course thinking of fun activities for the kids and myself to engage in! I have grown incredibly close with both families, but it is time for me to find a more permanent position and grow close to a new family. I graduated cum laude, or with honors, and believe that education is core to an individuals success. Eventually, I would like to focus on International Children's Law and have had the privilege of studying this subject previously in Cambodia. During my college experience, I worked for 4 wonderful families who I highly respect and have formed lasting relationships with. My experience with children started long before college (I began babysitting in middle school) and have had various positions interacting with children since an early age. In high school I was a summer tutor for two years for children ranging in ages 5 to 10 years. These children had some sort of learning disability and thus I learned from a young age how to skillfully and effectively tutor young children in the field of education. In addition, I was a camp counselor for fifth graders for two years, leading them through fun activities such as nature walks, campfire songs, various games, and many other events. I am a very versatile, active, vivacious individual with a knack for entertaining and educating children. In college, in addition to being a nanny I was able to participate in a volunteer program at an inner city school in Seattle. This program taught me how to create a positive environment in which kids where not reprimanded for misbehavior, but instead saw that a negative attitude meant a loss of certain privileges. For example, a discipline technique regularly used would be along the lines of "I would really love you to participate in story time because I know how much fun you have during it, but if you continue having a negative attitude and choose to go into time out your going to be missing out on sharing stories with all your friends. Is that a choice you'd like to make?" Some children decided they would prefer time out, but my giving them the decision to either change their decision to participate in an activity or to miss out because of their attitude, it shifted the "bad cop" mentality and helped the kids realize that their actions had consequences. It is these techniques I apply daily with the children I look after. In addition to my childcare experience, I speak Russian fluently as well as some French, and have traveled to over 18 countries and 5 continents. I have spent two summers living in Cambodia, one summer studying Children's law and the next interning for a women's rights non-governmental organization. I am fun, motivated, intelligent person who would like to share my experiences and stories with whoever I have the privilege of working for. I have worked for an absolutely amazing family for the past 13 months in Manhattan Beach, CA. I started this position when Graham was only 11 months (he is now two) and have seen him mature both mentally and physically, ie from crawling to walking, from being able to say one word to now saying phrases, etc. I love him more then anything and was sad incredibly sad to say goodbye but am thankful for a new oppurtunity to live in New York City. I received an internship with Somaly Mam, a human rights organization fighting human trafficking, that only requires 20 hours a week. The internship is very flexible in terms of days I work and I am hoping to find an amazing family to work for part-time. If you think I may be a good fit for you and your family please email me at [email protected] I have a nanny resume and references on hand that I can send at any time. I look forward to hearing from you! In addition to my childcare experience, I speak Russian fluently as well as some French, and have traveled to over 18 countries and 5 continents.
