A little bit about me

I was adopted from China when I was 9 months old and was raised in Riverdale (the Bronx), NYC ever since! My parents are really wonderful and I feel so grateful for my family! I have one older sister who was also adopted. I recently moved with my boyfriend to Brooklyn from Riverdale. I graduated from Horace Mann High School. I am a very warm and happy person. My schedule is flexible and I have a car so I can usually accommodate any last minute babysitting needs.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I previously worked at Kidville Riverdale (1-6 year old children) as an assistant teacher and Physique Swimming Camp in the Financial District (4-10 year old children, some with learning and behavioral disabilities). My most recent nannying job was working for a family in BedStuy Monday-Friday and some weekend days. Both parents worked in finance and had very busy schedules. Their two daughters were 8 and 12 years old. Their 12 year old daughter was on the Autism spectrum. Their father was hired at a new company in Los Angeles which is where they relocated to. I am currently working with several families as a casual sitter in Sunset Park (Brooklyn), Riverdale (the Bronx), and Jersey City (New Jersey). Ideally, I’d like to find more families to work with in Brooklyn.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

drawing, arts and crafts, running around, playing games. I know sometimes parents come home super tired, so as I watch your kids I always try to make it a goal to tire them out so bedtime can hopefully be easier on you!

The most important part about being a nanny...

is making sure everyone feels heard, happy, and understood! Communication is so important. I love working with kids and helping them understand themselves and their parents better. I often find that between busy school days and busy work days, sometimes the communication factor can get lost in the mix. I’ve worked with families who have multiple kids, and I’ve noticed a lot of times there’s a sibling rivalry or the oldest child would retreat into themselves. As a sibling myself (I have one older sister who is 5 years older than me), I understand firsthand how sometimes a child can feel jealous, not heard, or just needs a friend to talk to, or just go run around with. It’s important to me to not just be your child’s babysitter, but also a friend they can count on. Most importantly, I’m here to make your life easier because we all know parenting can be draining!

My experience with special needs children...

I have worked with children on the autism spectrum, attachment issue, as well as children with behavioral disabilities. The last family I worked with on a daily basis had two daughters. The older daughter was on the autism spectrum. She struggled with fine motor skills such as using her house key to unlock the door. Although the younger daughter was not special needs she sometimes struggled with understanding her older sister’s autism as well as her parents decision making, so it was important to me that I developed equally strong bonds with both siblings. The girls were exceptionally bright, well-mannered, and just really wonderful kids. The younger sister struggled at times with with adjusting into her preteens (she would tell me about friend “drama” at school, boys, life questions), but she also struggled with being understanding towards her sister’s needs. I chatted with the little one frequently to let her know she wasn’t alone. I would regularly check in with their parents.
