A little bit about me

My name is Esmeralda Herrera, and I would describe myself as an compassionate, and highly responsible individual. I come from a large family and have been surrounded by children and animals throughout my life. As the oldest of several siblings, I naturally took on a caregiver role early on, helping my parents with daily routines, schoolwork, and emotional support. My passion for childcare grew as I began caring for my neighbors’ children, as well as my nieces and nephews. These experiences led me to pursue nannying more formally. I bring a calm, nurturing approach to caregiving, along with strong multitasking skills and a genuine love for working with children of all ages. In addition to my professional experience, I am also a mother to an infant, which has further deepened my understanding of child development, patience, and attentive care. I believe my personal and professional experience, combined with a warm personality make me a great fit for a nanny position.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

children includes helping a neighbor with their two young children (ages 2 and 5) during weekdays while they worked from home. I was responsible for preparing meals, supervising indoor and outdoor play, managing naps, and helping with potty training.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy engaging children in activities that are both fun and developmentally supportive. Some of my favorite things to do with kids include playing educational games, doing arts and crafts, singing songs, and exploring sensory play. I also love spending time outdoors, whether it’s going for walks, playing at the park, or having mini scavenger hunts. For older children, I enjoy helping with homework, encouraging imaginative play, and creating simple routines that make them feel confident and independent. I always aim to tailor activities to each child’s age, personality, and interests to keep them curious, happy, and learning.

The most important part about being a nanny...

To me, the most important part about being a nanny is building a relationship based on trust, consistency, and genuine care. Children thrive when they feel safe, supported, and understood, and I believe a nanny plays a key role in creating that environment. It’s not just about watching over them, it’s about being emotionally present, encouraging their growth, and helping them feel confident and secure while their parents are away. At the same time, it’s also important to support the entire family by communicating openly, respecting routines, and being dependable. When a child feels safe and happy and parents feel at ease, that’s when I know I’m doing my job right.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite (and funniest) nanny moments was during snack time with a very curious toddler. I had just introduced him to avocado for the first time, and after one bite, he looked me dead in the eye, frowned dramatically, and whispered, “This tastes like the color green.” I couldn’t help but laugh at how serious he was.

I’m experienced with newborns and toddlers as well! I used to mainly babysit for my old teachers in high school and for my parents colleagues. Although I’m a youngest child I’ve always had a sense of motherly instinct ever since I was little, and enjoy making babies smile and playing with younger kids.
