A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Farah, and I'm a journalist who moved to Seattle a few years ago. I currently live with my husband and two cats, and we spend much of our free time at concerts, exploring art galleries, trying out new recipes and more.

I come from a family of educators. My grandma was an English teacher in Egypt for close to three decades and still keeps in touch with most of her students! My mom is currently a special ed paraeducator back in Phoenix, a job she holds close to her heart. My mom's students absolutely adore her, and I owe everything to these two for teaching me about love and how to treat children with the utmost care and compassion.

I take pride in my background as a Muslim and coming from an first-gen immigrant family. My identities have helped me see the world with a strong social justice mindset. I believe in creating a safe, equitable and affirming environment for children of all backgrounds to learn and grow.

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I ran a babysitting program at my hometown mosque in Chandler, Arizona during high school! I was responsible for watching over numerous age groups, ranging from ages 2-10. I taught arts and crafts classes, scheduled playtime and meal breaks for the kids, and more!
