The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part about being a nanny is creating a space where kids feel safe, seen, and genuinely cared for. It’s not just about routines or activities it’s about being someone they trust, someone who shows up with patience, consistency, and kindness every single day. When a child feels secure and understood, everything else, learning, playing, growing, falls into place.
My experience with special needs children...
I had the opportunity to volunteer with children with special needs through Project UNIFY, and it was truly one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had. I worked closely with students of all abilities, helping to promote inclusion, understanding, and meaningful connection. That experience taught me patience, empathy, and how to adapt to each child’s unique needs. It really shaped how I approach childcare with a strong focus on creating a supportive, respectful environment where every child feels seen, safe, and valued.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite nanny moments was during a summer abroad when I was watching a group of siblings, ages 4, 7, and 10. One afternoon, we created an entire “mini city” in their backyard using cardboard boxes, sidewalk chalk, and their bikes as taxis. They named streets after themselves, set up a pretend bakery, and even made me a “mayor badge.” We spent hours in that world, and I just remember thinking — this is what childhood should feel like. It wasn’t about expensive toys or screens, just imagination, connection, and freedom to play. Seeing them so proud of what they built together is something I’ll never forget.

Hi! My name is Joanna. I’m bilingual in English and Spanish, and I have a lot of experience with kids since I’ve always helped care for my nieces and nephews. I’m the youngest of three siblings, but I’m known for being responsible and supportive. I work as a server, where I’ve learned to handle busy environments and work as part of a team. Outside of work, I’m in school studying to become a nurse because I really enjoy helping others. In my free time, I like spending time with family and staying active.
Babysitter Available in Macomb, MI: Ashley C.
Hi, I'm Ashley Cox and a few words I would use to describe myself would be enthusiastic, confident, people person, organized, and empathetic. I do have some experience with watching children but it was usually at events where the parents would be doing their thing while I was left to watch and play with them which I never had a problem with since we would play hide n seek, would play starwars (in which I would lose every time), or play video games.
