Hello! My name is Gaberial, and I am pleased to work with any family that will accept me!

A little about me:

I am a 20 year old nanny who has been working with kids since I was 15! I started off with taking care of newborn babies-toddler ages within my family, and eventually when I turned 17, I landed a job as a tutor at the Catholic Charities Youth Center, tutoring and looking after children from ages 5-18. I’m able to help with basic needs such as math & reading, and am excited about any other subjects.

Last summer, I had the opportunity to work with rising high-school seniors to help them navigate through their senior year & freshman year of college. While doing so, I was still be a live in caregiver for a family member for a 3 & 5 year old where I potty trained, tutored, assigned daily activities for us to do, prepared meals, did the household chores, and bathed the children. This was my schedule from 5am-6pm!

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have worked with the Catholic Charities Youth Center tutoring and looking after children from ages 5-18.

I have been a live in caregiver for a family member with children from ages 3-5 from March until current.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Indoor: book reading, science related activities (watching plant growth, creating slime, etc.), mini projects, learning nursery rhymes, creating fun indoor adventures, arts & crafts, and safe baking.

The most important part about being a nanny...

What matters to me is that these children are able to have more experiences than I did as a child, even if it’s more so indoors. Kids deserve to have a creative outlet and to have a safe space to do so in.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I remember stepping into one of my experiences, not knowing if the children would like or accept me. They were very shy & didn’t want to talk as much. It took me about a week or so, but I broke their shells by making sure to create an environment where it was their safe space, where they can do things that they really wanted to, and discuss important topics to them. Towards my leaving a few months later, we had a discussion about our time together & they pointed out that I allowed them to feel good about themselves & even though they wanted space to do things on their own, that I was always there asking if they were fine & needed my help.
