A little bit about me

hi, my name is gia :)) i’m 17 (18 in march!!), autistic, and ive worked in both nurseries, day camps, and babysat for my friends back home in georgia. i work mondays, fridays, and saturdays from 4-9, i have online classes in the morning but only a few so i can indeed work around that. i know and have practiced cpr but i am not certified, i have a georgia permit so i cant drive here but i typically travel by bus or train. i’m puerto rican and speak a little bit of spanish, but not fluently (yet), that may or may not be helpful lol!
a few fun facts abt me is my favorite bands are metallica and eagles, i’ve been in love with them and their music for as long as i can remember. i love sharks, my favorite show is seinfeld, and i love to wander around/go on adventures/walks.
i hope you find me qualified 😸

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

i volunteered at my old church nursery back in georgia, where i’m originally from. i worked there from late [phone number hidden] where i helped feed and occupy the kids, just typical nursery activities.
i volunteered at my local library (also in georgia) over one summer in 2019 as well. there, i helped teach kids to read, played games, put them down for naps, summer camp/day camp things.
i had many friends back in georgia with younger siblings and their parents would sometimes leave me to watch them while they’d go out to run errands etc. they were typically younger, around 6-9, and the parents said i did great!
it was only unpaid because i volunteered :)

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

i personally find happiness in doing activities such as coloring, drawing, singing, playing with my sensory slug, going outside etc on my own, but i find it to be more with the company of someone more open-minded with a pure heart like me, im open to whatever the child is interested in doing 😸

The most important part about being a nanny...

creating a bond with the child and keeping them safe. to the extent i can go, i would never let the world hurt the child i am caring for the way that it hurt me, whether it’s someone else’s or my own in the future.

My experience with special needs children...

i have only cared for one before and he loves me, so but i, myself, am autistic, so i have an idea of how younger autistic kids work :)

The most important part about being a nanny...

sitting and watching ratatouille (my favorite movie) with my old best friend’s younger brother, which was also his favorite movie 😸
