More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Before I moved to the city, I worked at an elementary school in NJ. I was an associate teacher who watched kids in the mornings before school/the afternoons after school if their parents worked early/late. I've watched up to 8 kids alone, but 20+ with another teacher. This was all during Covid, so I'm used to wearing a mask for 8+ hours a day, although I am fully vaccinated and boosted. I've also worked at summer camps with kids ages 3-15. I also used to babysit two elementary school kids for about 2 hours a day every weekday.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy helping with homework, playing card and board games, watching movies, talking, playing video games, making music, fun crafts, and listening to them talk about whatever they want.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My priority is always safety and making sure the kids are happy. As long as they are comfortable and having fun, then I know I've done my job.
My experience with special needs children...
I have never worked with a special needs child one on one, but I have worked alone with kids specifically with learning disabilities. My experience is limited with autism and different needs, but I'm comfortable just sitting next to him/her and not talking or anything. I'm very easy going, and I can adapt quickly for the kid's needs. I'm fully prepared to be supportive of whatever they might need. I'm also learning ASL.
The most important part about being a nanny...
A boy told me he knew how to play chess, so we sat down to play. As it woukd turn out, he does not know how to play chess, but he does have very specific rules of his own. So we played "Jake's Chess" that day, and he had a lot of fun teaching me, and correcting me, and I enjoyed learning his game.

Hi! I am Kaitlin Sullivan. I’m a senior student at Shawnee. I have worked with kids all my life, including babysitting, swim lessons and being a camp counselor. I love children and have always been the oldest of my family, having to take care of my cousins. I am still in high school, so sometimes my schedule is tight, but I always make room to babysit!

I am a mature Christian woman and mother who loves children. I am the mother of a 27 year old Master's degree graduate. I was born and raised in Philadelphia, and I have a BBA in Computer Science from Temple University. I worked in the IT industry (government consulting and healthcare) for over 20 years. I am a self-proclaimed "propeller head", and enjoy all things technical. Conversely, I'm also a people person who enjoys spending time with friends, as well as using my enthusiasm for creativity with DIY projects.
I feel that growing up in the city afforded me an edge on creative and imaginative play - I love making up games and sharing my childhood "gaming" with the children in my care. I believe engaging children in activities that will allow them to use their imagination while learning at the same time is vital to instilling the love and desire for knowledge.
I play the piano, love all types of animals and pets, and am an avid traveler.
