More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I’ve spent the last school year working at The Medford Montessori School with 4th and 5th graders in an educational cooking program. The focus of Montessori is to give children the room and tools to become independent. This experience opened my eyes to the capabilities of young children when given a suitable environment. Throughout this summer I have been working with 15-25 children each week, ages 4-10, at our Montessori inspired Farm Camp. A typical day consists of a long walk around the farm, a hands on class where the children learn to bake or create a cold snack all by themselves, a craft, and guided free play with intermittent group games. While I have great appreciation for the excitement of a large group, my recent desire is to be able to routinely build upon a relationship with a few children from one family.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I spent several years in high end kitchens training to create some of the best dishes in the valley. Fine dining has allowed me to develop a serious passion for quality foods, centralizing around local, simple ingredients. This is a skill I greatly enjoy combining with childcare, as I believe children thrive when given quality nutrients. I’ve also noticed how enriching it is for children to practice simply making different foods, as it is a skill they will require throughout their lifetime.
Additionally I enjoy vibrant storytelling and just about any art form. I am always seeking new crafts and projects.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The focal point of my work with children is that we both may thrive in a safe, caring environment. A place where the child can see the adult as a tool for discovery and the adult can be reminded of their own child like nature in guiding the child.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My most enjoyable moments with children are often those quiet moments of chatting, where you are given the opportunity to see the world through the child’s glimmering eyes. I feel these moments are key, getting to meet the child on their own level allows me the chance to understand them as a person with a particular set of desires.
