"Haley is always so engaging with our daughters , she even brings her own “babysitter” book bag with interesting toys and games. Haley always goes above and beyond to entertain our daughters. She even set up a bake sale during the summer and brought cupcakes to decorate and sell. She is also one of the few babysitters who always cleans up before she leaves. Haley is very kind and respectful. She is also very thorough at communicating any questions or concerns while watching our girls."

More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I’ve had official experience since I was thirteen, which was seven years ago. I’ve always had a passion for working with children, and babysat as soon as I was able to and could find a job. Before that I would volunteer in my churches 2 year old nursery with my mom for five years (when I was ages 8 to 13). I started out babysitting for my neighbor, and also worked as a mother’s helper for a nine month old, who I still babysit for now.
I have experience with ages three months to thirteen years and with up to three children at once, although I’m willing to watch four. I’m happy to provide references for varying age groups and number of children.
As for other experience I have, my little brother has autism and ADHD, and when he was little I would babysit for him, so I have a bit of experience with that.
I also know baby sign and a bit of conversational ASL and utilize this with babies who cannot communicate in other ways yet.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love to get on the floor with children and play games and do art projects with them, instead of just being on my phone or sitting with them without interacting. I’ve gone on hikes, bike rides, to playgrounds, pools, beaches, and libraries with the children in my care and try to make each day fun!
For art projects, I sometimes bring supplies as I have them to work with kids to make works of art! I let them be creative and messy (within reason for messes), and love to have creations to show parents at the end of the day.
Overall, I plan and execute games and activities for us to do together, all while keeping them safe, and cleaning up any mess we make afterwards, so the children can tell you all about the fun day when you’re done with work!

The most important part about being a nanny...
Everything about being a nanny goes hand in hand, I believe. While the bare minimum is just keeping the children safe and fed, I think it’s important to also create a strong bond with the children in my care. Playing with them and making them feel seen and loved is important in the day to day life. This also makes it easier for children to be okay with their parents being away for work or wherever they have to be, because they trust who they’re being left with and enjoy spending time with them.
So while keeping the children safe and fed are very important in this job, as well as having and enforcing boundaries and rules, I believe playing and sitting down with the children to actively participate in things with them is an incredibly important part of being a nanny. Everything about being a nanny goes hand in hand with each other, so there isn’t really a “most important” part.

My experience with special needs children...
My little brother has autism and ADHD, and when he was younger I would babysit him occasionally. Other than that, none of the children put in my care have any special needs diagnosed, but I recognize when children have differing needs and do my best to accommodate them!
If your child has special needs I don’t already have experience with and knowledge about, I’m more than willing to do research to learn how to best care for them!

The most important part about being a nanny...
I have so many great moments it’s hard to pick one!
One that comes to mind is a time I took two children to the beach for the day, and we spent hours there looking for shark teeth, playing in the water, and building sand castles. We finished our day burying the two kids’ legs in sand, and when it was time to leave they jumped up to make the sand go everywhere! It was a really fun day.
Another fun memory is a time three children and I made homemade lemon popsicles! I brought some popsicle molds I already owned, and using a recipe I found online, the kids helped prepare all the ingredients (squeezing the lemons, pouring honey, and zesting the lemons) and made delicious popsicles that they were super happy with!
There are many, many happy memories I’ve made with children I’ve nannied or babysat, but these two stick out in my mind.

Hi, I’m Amber. I have two years of experience working with children in school settings. I began as a substitute teacher, where I supported a variety of grade levels and classroom environments. For the past year, I’ve worked as a paraprofessional in an adaptive elementary classroom, primarily supporting students on the autism spectrum. In this role, I’ve provided one-on-one and small group support, assisted with behavior and communication strategies, and helped maintain structure daily. I have loved being able to support children behaviorally and academically. My goal is always to support each child’s individual needs and be patient with them. Also, since I have an education background I can help with homework or create some fun learning activities!

Part-Time Nanny Available in Lynchburg, VA: Shallyn D.
Hi! I’m Shallyn, I recently just moved to the lynchburg area & I currently work at concentrix & it’s been quite a adventure for me there.. I am currently pregnant & am looking for a job that accommodates me, my current job isn’t very friendly as far as maturity leave & just understanding the every day life a pregnant woman occurs. I would like to be more active & be able to be more observant of parent hood as this is my first child. i grew up in a family that was always gathering and spending time i always had time with my aunts & cousins.. i have 4 nieces between the ages 8 & 1, & i have just been absolutely fascinated of the job of a mother and father, i aspire for my own little family and to me as oriented as mine was growing up. i am currently 19 & going to school for criminal justice & hopefully in the future can be a forensic pathologist… working as a baby would not only allow me to learn & grow as a young parent but also privilege me with everything i’m looking for in a job..
