I believe that the most important part about being a nanny is being able to enjoy it while also being responsible and aware. Being a nanny comes with great responsibility and privilege. It is very important that you enjoy each child you are caring for but also being aware of the trust and duties the family has trusted you with.
My experience with special needs children...
For over 4 years, I helped a family whose son had Asperger Syndrome starting at the age 4. I helped de-escalate over- stimulation, helped with coping mechanisms, engaged in calm and patient behavior, followed routines and soothed child when needed.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment is still keeping in contact with the families I have helped and receiving updates about them and visiting children when their schedule allows. I am luckily enough that I have been able to keep in contact with every family I have helped and remain close with them as each child will always be important to me.
