More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
In addition to my 20+ years as a full-time career nanny, I have worked as a Youth Counselor and Gym Director at the Boys & Girls Club, where I supervised and mentored children in a structured recreational setting. I also hold a degree in Early Childhood Education and have extensive experience partnering with parents, teachers, therapists, and other professionals to support children’s development. Throughout my career, I have cared for children from newborns through adolescence in both private homes and group settings, giving me a well-rounded background in child development, education, behavior management, and household support.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love creating fun, engaging, and enriching experiences that support each child’s development through play and everyday learning. With infants, I enjoy tummy time, sensory exploration, reading, singing, baby sign language, music, stroller walks, developmental play, fine and gross motor activities, and helping them reach important milestones in a nurturing, responsive environment. As children grow, I enjoy arts and crafts, imaginative play, building forts, baking and cooking together, science experiments, nature walks, playgrounds, splash pads, museums, aquariums, libraries, story times, sports, puzzles, board games, and age-appropriate educational activities. I strive to encourage curiosity, confidence, kindness, independence, and a lifelong love of learning while making each day fun and meaningful.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part of being a nanny is building a relationship rooted in trust, consistency, and genuine care. Children thrive when they feel safe, understood, and unconditionally supported, and I believe it’s my role to provide that steady presence every day. Beyond meeting their physical needs, I strive to nurture their confidence, independence, curiosity, and emotional well-being while maintaining open communication and a strong partnership with parents. When a child knows they are loved, respected, and encouraged to be themselves, everything else—from learning to behavior to personal growth—falls into place.
My experience with special needs children...
Throughout my 20+ year career as a professional nanny, I have had the privilege of caring for children with a variety of special needs, developmental differences, and behavioral challenges. My experience includes supporting children with behavioral disorders, emotional regulation difficulties, and other unique developmental needs while working closely with parents, teachers, therapists, and other professionals to provide consistent, individualized care. I believe every child deserves patience, understanding, and an approach tailored to their strengths and needs. My calm demeanor, consistency, and ability to build trusting relationships help children feel safe, supported, and empowered to succeed both at home and in their daily routines.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite nanny memories happened during a rainy afternoon when my nanny kids decided I absolutely needed a full makeover. They enthusiastically covered my face with bright eyeshadow, lipstick that extended well beyond my lips, blush everywhere imaginable, and topped it all off by styling my hair in the most creative way they could think of. When they proudly announced I looked “perfect,” I told them the only fair thing to do was to wear my new look out in public. We all piled into the car and made a quick stop at a local store, where I walked in looking like a complete clown while the kids laughed so hard they could barely stand. Seeing how proud they were and hearing their uncontrollable giggles made every second worth it. It’s a memory I’ll never forget because it perfectly captures the joy, trust, and silliness that make childhood so special—and reminds me that sometimes the best part of being a nanny is being willing to be goofy right alongside the children.

Babysitter Available in Westport, CT: Alena L.
My name’s Alena; I’m an almost 26 year-old from Norwalk, CT. I am a middle school Humanities Teaching Assistant currently looking for part-time gigs during the summer off season. In July of 2023, I graduated from Lee University in Cleveland, TN with my Bachelor of Arts in Humanities; while there and before I left CT for college, I was a paid part-time babysitter for families with children in the age ranges of 0-11 months & 1-3. Aside from paid jobs, as the eldest daughter (but second-born) of 5, I’ve assumed the role of "caretaker" from the age of 12. Growing up in a single-parent household, along with uncountable experiences with children & youth in a church setting (Sunday School, etc), plus my TA experience, I would say I’m well equipped for any age. I prefer the 0-11 months stage because I work with mobile & independent children, so it’s a nice change of pace that allows me to slow down. I have a driver’s license and my own car, so I’m available mostly anytime with proper notice.
