Gross motor activities are my go to so finger, painting, baking, gluing paper together anything that involves the child physically engaging with the project to keep them focused and interested in whatever activity is being done and to help them learn to do things on their own and be able to explore
My experience with special needs children...
Working with special needs, children is no different to me than working with any other child except for that. It takes a little bit more patience, with me they are treated like anyone else so if my students are painting, I’m sitting down with them and they are painting the best they can as well if we are outside playing they are outside playing as well. If we’re doing a group project they’re doing the group project as well. I always keep all my students involved whether they have special needs or not they are much smarter than some might think and all it takes is a little more effort.
