A little bit about me

I am a retired pediatric RN (my license is still current and valid). I used to work at a children’s hospital (1 year) and for a pediatrician (6 years). I started to nanny in 2014. Every family I have been a nanny for, I started when the child (or twins for one family) were 2-3 months old. All of the families I worked for have been first time parents. I currently work for a family with a 6 year old who is in first grade. . I leave to pick her up daily at 1:15 and work until 7. I also take care of my 5 month old granddaughter Tuesday all day. I could add add a few additional morning hours to this schedule. I have been with this family since the little girl was 3 months old. I have a BA degree.I obtained my RN license in 2008. I have a 28 year old daughter so I am also a mom. I have VAST knowledge and experience with newborns, infants, and preschool age. I worked at a children’s hospital with babies 2 days old up to 4 years old. . I have many excellent references. I am fully vaccinated.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I worked at a Children’s hospital on a floor that had babies from 2 days old up to 4 years old as an RN for a year. I worked at a pediatricians office for almost 6 years as an RN. I saw newborns up to age 23 at that office. My license is still valid. I am a mom myself.( my daughter is now 27 and married). I have 9 nieces and nephews.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Playing outside, looking at nature, reading, puzzles, games, teaching depending on age and stage. Singing, playing instruments (I am very musical). Telling stories. Teaching letters, numbers. Using imagination to do so many different things such as playing make believe, and telling stories. I am very familiar with babies, infants, and toddlers different stages and working on different skills according to their age and stage.I like to take children to museums, kindermusic, Little Gym, aquariums, playgrounds, library, swimming lessons,, but only if the parent feels comfortable with me doing so. When I take care of a child, I record everything we have done during the day in a note book so the parents can see what their child did all day. I also love to snuggle.

The most important part about being a nanny...

It matters greatly to know that I am helping develop young minds. I also am taking care of a parents most important human in their life. I take that very seriously. I do not ever want a parent to worry when the child is in my care. I am 100% focused on whatever child I am taking care of. No phone. No distractions. Just me developing an amazing relationship with the child, having fun, teaching them to be kind, honest, polite, youngsters. At every stage, I try to maximize their potential while still having fun. If the baby is fairly young, I can work with the parents to try to get the baby on a schedule. I’m always happy to offer advice IF ASKED by new parents. I never offer advice unless asked. Of course, the child’s safety is always number 1. I have taken care of sick children before. I also know when it is appropriate to take the child to the doctor, since I have the experience of being a pediatric RN.

My experience with special needs children...

Have a nephew who has Asperger’s. (He’s now 30 years old). I have taken care of him on many occasions. I have taken care of babies and toddlers at the hospital who had a variety of special needs.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Hearing a child tell me they love me. It’s so important to me to treat the babies like they are my own, so to hear that makes my heart melt. I also love it when they use their manners. That is very important to me to teach manners, honesty and morals and values to young minds. I try to instill in the children that you need to treat others in a kind and respectful way. I also love to hear genuine laughter. No better sound in the world.
