The most important part of being a nanny to me is ensuring the safety and well-being of the children. I want not only to be there for them but to make sure I'm being attentive to their needs and helping foster their growth. I think it's essential as well to build a trusting and supportive relationship with both the children and their parents. So I really value being reliable and having good communication.
My experience with special needs children...
I've cared for a 7-year-old girl who had Down syndrome and a 5-year-old girl who had autism (both girls were from different families).
The most important part about being a nanny...
One family I sat for the kids' girl (aged 6) and boy (aged 10) referred to me as Princess Jasmine greeting me that every time I came over with big smiles. We'd always make up fun games to play around the house or outside on the spot and if we weren't doing that we would play their favorite board games.
