"Jay Johnson was employed as in-home respite care to my child who is Autistic and has ADHD. At the time, my child was minimally verbal communicating, speaking via an AAC device. Ms. Johnson actively engaged in pretend play with my child, drawing and painting during craft time. She created obstacle course stations in our backyard so my child could enjoy being outside while practicing motor development skills. Ms. Johnson also assisted my child when using the restroom. Ms. Johnson was so patient, kind and caring with my child. They sat and ate every snack and lunch together. It can be challenging to find a person who genuinely wants to come work with a child who (was) non-verbal. My child would squeal to see Ms. Johnson, always run to give her a hug. I am happy to recommend Ms. Johnson for any one-to-one or nanny position. We slowly decreased respite care hours as our therapy hours increased during the week, eventually leading to weekend support, approximately eight hour shifts."
