A little bit about me

Hello! My name is Jay and I'm a 26 year old parent to a 6 y/o looking for a new nannying position! I have been a lead pre-toddler teacher at a daycare for a little over a year and am trying getting back into nannying now. I am specifically looking for a family who is LGBTQ+ friendly and will not have issues with someone apart of that group. I will not be able to work for anyone who is not ok with that and can't provide a good and safe environment for me to work in. I love babysitting, pet sitting, and also enjoy doing house cleaning work while I'm on the job if needed! I can take kids anywhere they need to be during the day via car as well. I am also CPR, First Aid, and MAT certified. I moved from VA from WA about 3 years ago to be with my family and I am excited to meet you!

"My daughter absolutely loved Teacher Jay in her toddler classroom. Every time I arrived Jay seemed genuinely happy to be there, scooping up kids for hugs and having dance parties. My daughter was always happy when I picked her up after a great day with Jay! Even after my daughter moved up to the next class, she still kept talking about Teacher Jay and would stop by to say hi and give hugs. Anyone would be lucky to have Jay!!"

"Jay has such a warm and welcoming presence. My toddler daughter had been having a difficult time adjusting to school prior to joining Jay’s class, and within a week or two of meeting Teacher Jay, she seemed so much more at ease during drop-off! Each morning, Teacher Jay made a point to say her name as they said hello and welcomed her to the classsroom. We as parents could see how much Jay cares about each child in their care. They gave us regular updates throughout the day, including pictures; they also communicated in a timely and responsive way when our daughter exhibited any physical symptoms like a fever or vomiting. I wholeheartedly recommend Jay as a wonderful, smart, dedicated childcare provider - you and your family will be lucky to have them."

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I worked as a nanny between 2019 and 2021 and after that worked at a daycare as a preschool teacher (basically taking the lead as the original lead had left) for a class of 13 until I had to make a move to Olympia WA. After that I worked at a Kiddie Academy daycare as an infant/toddler lead teacher substitute before moving here to VA. I am the oldest of 5 (ages 12-21) and have been homeschooled with my siblings up until college. I have years of experience caring for them and helping with their school as well. I have also worked at my church as a (volunteer) childcare provider for 6 years! Along with that I have also had the occasional babysitting gigs with family friends and my younger cousins as well. I also have experience with house/pet sitting for family friends on vacation too.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I'm an artist myself and I absolutely love doing arts and crafts with kids I care for! Along with that any kind of pretend play the child might want to do is something I enjoy too. I'm very into learning through play so I love coming up with lesson plans and activities to get your child engaged and interested in learning with me. When the weather is right, I also love going to the park or anyplace you can walk to, taking trips to the library is also something I like doing if the kids are interested.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Being able to give children a positive experience while I care for them! I'm all about early childhood learning and giving children the tools they need to be kind and caring human beings as they grow. I also practice positive discipline/gentle parenting with children as it is how I am also parenting my own child. I want the kids I care for to feel safe and like they are being heard and understood to the best of my abilities when they are under my care.

My experience with special needs children...

I have had a bit of experience with neurodivergent children with some of the last nannying positions I've had. I had a bit more experience with that at the daycares i have worked at as well. I'm very interested in learning a bit more about taking care of of children who are neurodivergent though and want to take specific classes for that too!

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite moments would definitely be when i've worked with younger kids and we get to do arts and crafts together since I love anything crafty!

I’m someone who stays active and creative—I spend a lot of my time skating and making music, which helps me express myself and stay focused.
