What matters most to me as a nanny is building a strong, trusting relationship with the children and their family. I believe that creating a safe, fun, and nurturing environment where the kids feel heard, respected, and loved is the foundation for everything I do. It’s important to me to engage with children in ways that spark their creativity and curiosity, while also helping them develop confidence and kindness. I always strive to be a positive role model, and I love knowing that I’m contributing to their growth and happiness while also supporting the parents in their busy lives.
My experience with special needs children...
Although I’ve never had the opportunity to babysit a child with special needs, I do have experience working with children who have different abilities. In high school, I was involved in a program where I assisted the teacher with students with special needs. I helped with activities, supported their learning, and learned a lot about patience, flexibility, and understanding. I’m confident that these experiences have given me a solid foundation for working with children of all needs and abilities, and I’m always eager to learn and grow in this area.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One day, I was helping a 4-year-old with his bath time routine, and he insisted that the rubber duckie was “stuck” and needed help. I pretended to “rescue” the duck, but when I finally pulled it out of the water, the little one looked at me with wide eyes and said, “You saved him! You’re like a superhero!” I couldn’t help but laugh and play along, spending the next 10 minutes pretending to be a superhero who could save all the bath toys from danger. We even made up “superhero names” for each toy, and the bath became a full-on adventure!
