My experience started with my younger brother at a very young age. Both of our parents were absent most of the time and as small children we had nannies to care for us. As I got older, around the age of 12, I became my brother's primary caretaker. In sixth grade, I even took a babysitting course. I did everything from getting him up for school in the morning to cooking him breakfast and walking him home. We went to the neighborhood pool often and it was there I got my first job as a nanny. There were two little girls, four and seven at the time, who adored me. After a couple of years, their parents got to know me and asked me if I would like watch the girls over the summer. That was my very first job. I worked for them fifty hours a week, primarily during the day while they were working. My responsibilities included preparing lunch and of course keeping the children entertained and under control throughout the day. Most of the time, we would go to the park or the swimming pool. On a rainy day we would color, do arts and crafts, homework, or watch movies, provided I could get them to agree on a selection. I also babysat throughout the school year on weekends. The family asked if I would like to work for them the following summer but I declined to work as a lifeguard. I was professional rescuer certified and taught swimming lessons to children between the ages of three and nine. Throughout high school I had some experience with middle school aged children working as a counselor at conferences for the . One thing I looked forward to every year was volunteering at . My experience includes a wide variety of environments and age groups and although it has been a while since I have had a job working with children I can only imagine I would be better today. My friends call me Martha Stewart, I love to cook, and I love to bake. I am a big kid at heart and I enjoy doing things like going to museums and Disney movies. Right now I am a student working on my Bachelor's Degree in Multimedia Journalism.

Lead Pre-K teaching has brought so much to my heart, beyond teaching manners, conflict resolution, and compassion. Hands On Activities have been my focus. From, Science "Life Cycles" We were raising two types of tadpoles, raising Praying Mantis' which hatched from their case, feeding and nurturing them until they were as big as a child's hand. We grew seeds from Butterfly World, and later watched monarch caterpillars grow through chrysalis to beautiful butterflies. I have documented many "Hands On Activities" I initiated in photos of my class. We learned to breed crickets (soothing sounds). For Early Literacy, activities we used letters forming words. I began to make felt board story pieces to make Story Time Come Alive with the children's Enthusiastic Participation. I even incorporated math into cooking lessons. There is so much I can do Beyond being a Nanny to encourage the appreciation of learning. I have baby-sat since I was 10 years old after school and have been a nanny prior to teaching. I have many wonderful parent reference letters. Additionally, I am a fingerprinted teacher in Palm Beach County, a House Sitter, and a Pet Sitter. I recently took a Nurses Aid Course, I still have tests to take after I have studied., an added bonus! Thank you for your time. Kathy

My most recent childcare experience was wonderful. I helped a mother raise her three amazing girls. I did everything from the daily routine of school, homework, prepared meals, drove them to and from school and appointments on many occasions, light cleaning, nighttime and morning routines, stayed overnight several days a week, did many crafts, swam, read books, helped greatly with their many pets, ran errands, and traveled with them. I did not consider it a job. To me it was an extension of my own family and I enjoyed every minute of it.
