A little bit about me

I started my career out as a nanny with newborn twins and a 3 year old. Continued working full time with the family while I obtained my Elementary/early childhood/reading/language arts BS. I was a long term substitute teacher in many school districts with children varying from preschool through 12th grade. I went back for my bachelor's of Nursing and graduated in May 2014. During my time as a nurse I specialized in 2 major children's hospitals in the Country working mother/baby, nursery, pediatrics trauama/post surgical, general pediatrics, NICU, PICU and some peds hemotolgy/oncologu. I also worked as a home health nurse for a few children who had special needs/cares. I am married with 3 beautiful children. I strive to be there anytime for anyone. Iam flexible. I like to play piano, sing, go for bike rides, play in the sun. I do a lot of reading. And love my church family as well.

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have extensive background training with children. I was a nanny for newborn twins and a three year old for over 3 years. I have a bachelors degree in Elementary Education and taught school. I also have a bachelors degree in Nursing. During my time as a nurse I was primary in pediatrics, labor/delivery, newborn nursery, NICU, pediatric ICU. I am CPR and Pediatric advanced life support trained and certified through American Heart Association. After COVID I decided to hang my nursing hat up completely and go back to a career I love. Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Crafts, bike riding/hiking, reading, age appropriate learning (school) activities, board games. Reading, creating stories, imaginative play, puzzles, music (singing, instruments, dancing). Dance, gymnastics, cheer. (If parents want have been an instructor in all three) Bible study (if allowed).

The most important part about being a nanny...

Helping create our future generations. Help children explore, learn, create and think without sitting in front of a screen all day. Keeping them active and healthy. Helping the parents/guardians come home to a clean, healthy, happy household so they can relax and enjoy the time with their children as the blessings they are.

My experience with special needs children...

Tube feeds, bathing, trach cares and changes, diapering/changing linens or briefs for older children. IV cares and insertion, medication administration, g and j tube changes and feeds. PT, OT, Speech therapy basic skills. Basic sign language. Autism, ADHD, leaning disability, major depression or anxiety disorders, Down’s syndrome, quadriplegic/paraplegic, braces, spinal cord injuries, wheelchairs. Suctioning mouth, nose and trachs. Positioning in bed. Many other disorders as well.

The most important part about being a nanny...

When it was my first nanny families anniversary the three children worked hard making them a special card and made them a play. They acted it out for their parents and gave them the card at the end of the skit. The twins were 3 and the older child was 5. They looked at me and beamed when mom and dad both cried with tears of joy and appreciation. The kids were so proud of the hard work they put in. This was when I knew the gifts I help instill in the young minds to create a special gift for their for their parents is a lifetime of memories no one will ever forget.
