A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Jennifer, and I’m 24 years old. I have experience working with children, including those with special needs, which has helped me develop strong patience and communication skills—especially when it comes to supporting a child who may be in distress. I’m also an EMT student with completed basic training, CPR, and first aid certification, so safety and care are always my top priorities.

My long-term goal is to open my own daycare that not only provides a safe and nurturing environment for children while their parents are at work, but also focuses on personalized learning. Growing up, I often felt there weren’t enough options for kids who learned differently, and that experience inspired me to give back to my community and help children thrive in every way possible.

⭐️ As a student, part-time sub teacher, and full-time security officer, I have completed multiple background checks, including one for my school, which I can provide as proof of reliability and trustworthiness.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I currently work as a part-time substitute teacher for various schools in Broward County, primarily supporting children with special needs who require a little extra care and attention. In addition to that, I’ve also cared for my nieces and nephews, which has helped me become versatile and comfortable working with children of all different needs and personalities.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

When it comes to indoor activities, I like to make everything learning-based but fun, so children can enjoy themselves while developing skills that will benefit them later in life. I focus on the little details that are often overlooked—skills that make adult life easier—as well as the basics of learning how to take care of themselves. This includes arts and crafts to encourage creativity and patience, reading and word games to build language skills, hands-on science or building projects to foster problem-solving and critical thinking, and practical life skills like organizing, cleaning, and self-care to help children gain independence while enjoying themselves. Just because we’re outdoors doesn’t mean learning stops. I love activities that are fun while helping children develop physical, cognitive, and social skills.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I believe the most important thing about being a nanny is creating a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment where children feel valued and understood. It’s about being patient, attentive, and adaptable to each child’s needs while helping them grow, learn, and develop both confidence and independence.

My experience with special needs children...

I’ve mainly focused on children who are nonverbal and require extra attention. I’ve always felt a strong desire to understand and meet their needs, which helps me become a more compassionate and effective caregiver for children with a variety of abilities.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my first experiences as a substitute teacher was with a student who was incredibly sweet, though he sometimes bit when he was upset. With patience and time, we developed a strong bond, and he became one of my favorite students.
I ended up becoming his temporary teacher until the school was able to find an RBT to work with him. I’m so grateful for that experience because it taught me so much—I wouldn’t have learned as much without my time with him.
