A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Kaila. I am a passionate, fun-loving, active 24 year old. Currently teaching Pre-K at an excellent daycare in Roanoke (the only 5 star rated center in Virginia). Along with this, my class currently has the top PALS testing scores in all of the Roanoke Valley!
In my classroom, I strive to help young minds grow, explore, question, and experience the world around them. Teaching and caring for children is one of the many passions of mine, along with music, literature, and science.
As a person who had a very positive, loving, and involved nanny I can only hope to be that for your children. I have seen the magic a nanny can have on a child's life and picking he right one can be hard. Yet, I promise you that I will treat your child(ren) with the same respect, dignity, and care that I would my own.

While at this position, I was a tutor for Math and English as a Second Language for children ages 5-11. This position was the catalyst for my passion in teaching and caring for children.

This is my current position and I am VERY passionate about it. This class and it's program has taught me SO MUCH. The pure joy I get from working with these children everyday is truly life-changing. My class makes going back to work on Monday's exciting!

Along with these positions, I have worked closely with infants and toddlers. Diapers, spit-up, and drool are no challenge for me. Before working in a daycare setting, I helped my mother a lot with raising my youngest brother. (He is a large part of my love for children and passion for teaching)

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I believe that fun and education can be best friends! My goal in my class is to hit all 5 major development categories; Language/Literature, Science/Math, Physical/Gross Motor Skills, Creative Expression, and Social/Emotional.
That means that everything around and anything possible can be a learning and fun-having opportunity! I encourage children to find fun wherever they are!
Along with this, I believe that dramatic play toys (dress up, kitchen play, etc.) are a good opportunity for creative expression. Play-dough is great for gross motor skills. Reading to children is the number one way to encourage letter/number recognition.

Ultimately, if an adult shows passion and excitement in learning, children will too.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Making sure to always treat with respect, dignity, and understanding. Being an educator and carer of children has been my life for over a year now. And I wouldn't change it for he world. Children are FUN! Who doesn't want to come to work and have FUN?! I love the way children are constantly wanting to explore and learn more. The most important part about being a nanny is caring for others children as if they are your own.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of the best moments in my class was when my grandfather passed and my children each picked me a flower during playtime. 24 yellow dandelions. It was such a pure and sweet moment that I think about very often.
