Relevant experience where I also cared for children were…I have been a teacher for over 15 years. I have also counseled children and families for 10 years. Using a calm approach for redirecting children and setting good boundaries.
Activities I enjoy doing with children…Cooking is an amazing activity with children. Learning critical thinking skills by reading directions, measuring, inaction of ingredients, temperature setting, setting timers, removing cooked items from stove, and cleaning up after done.
Children involved in activities, like scouts, swimming, self-defense classes, and anything they show interest, is important to their development.
The most important part about being a nanny…Working with children to provide a healthy, happy home environment. Setting boundaries and enjoying life. Working with children on learning daily life skills like cooking, cleaning, and self-care.
My favorite nanny moment…I feel that when there are light bulb moments it is so rewarding. When a child masters a skill like making cookies for a class bake sale, there is so much joy with the end results. We turn on the music, dance around the kitchen to the beat, and just have fun.
Together, we measured out all the ingredients, mixed them, added nuts and chocolate chips, put them on cookie sheets, and baked them. While baking, we cleaned up the kitchen together so once cookies were done, the kitchen was spotless.
After the tasting test and putting them inside a container, the child gave me a huge smile and hug thanking me for a really fun time while working really hard.
