A little bit about me

Hi! I'm Katie, a Brooklyn-based educator with a deep love for working with young children. I have several years of experience caring for and teaching kids, most recently co-teaching 4- and 5-year-olds at a nature-based preschool at Wonderforest Preschool and Hollingworth Preschool, where I earned my master's in Psychology in Education.
I bring a playful, patient, and creative approach to childcare. With a background in theater and early childhood education, I love filling our time together with storytelling, imaginative play, art, music, and plenty of time outdoors. I'm also a certified SEE Learning facilitator, which means I'm trained to support kids' social and emotional growth, helping them name big feelings, build empathy, and feel confident being themselves.
I'm originally from Brazil and speak Portuguese natively, so I'm happy to bring a little bilingual fun into the mix if that's something your family would enjoy.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

My experience with kids goes back years and spans a wide range of ages and settings. I got my start working at children's parties, then went on to teach dance to kids ages 2 to 10. I've cared for my own younger cousins since they were infants, and in 2019 and 2020 I worked as a theater teacher in Brazil.
Since coming to the USA in 2021, I have had a full-time role caring for a little girl from 7 months old until she was 2, and I've worked part-time with a family of three kids, ages 4 to 7. I also began caring for another baby when she was just 4 months old; she's almost 4 now, and I still occasionally spend time with her family. Alongside this, my academic path has deepened my work with young children as a preschool teacher, most recently co-teaching 4- and 5-year-olds at a nature-based preschool.
