Hi, I’m Katie! I’m a senior at Saint Joseph’s University where I’m majoring in early education and special education. While at school, I work at the Kinney Center for Autism Research and Support and I’m a part of the school’s sketch comedy group. I’m the oldest of 4 siblings and I am super family-oriented. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Throughout high school and college, I’ve had lots of experiences working with kids. With my education major, I am required to attend a school once a week for the full day, and I have worked with students K-8 through this opportunity. Also, I was a gymnastics coach for 4 years at Bucks Gymnastics Center II where children ages 2-16 would attend weekly to improve their gymnastics skills. During college, I have worked at the autism center on campus (Kinney Center), been a pandemic pod instructor, volunteered with Special Olympics, and been a preschool lead. I would love to expand more on these experiences once we get chatting!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I absolutely love spending time outside whether we’re throwing a ball around, swimming, or playing in the creek. Sunscreen is a must and I am confident I can find a way to incorporate your child’s interest into an outdoor activity. If being outside isn’t their thing, we could also spend time inside making crafts or art, playing make believe, or just chatting!

My experience with special needs children...

I am a special education major at Saint Joseph’s University, so I have had many opportunities to learn about and implement strategies to benefit individuals with disabilities. Working at the Kinney Center, I have independently created and implemented plans for clients with autism varying in ages 5-22. Also, I have experience with individuals with hearing impairments as a pandemic pod instructor. I have been able to work with parents to create a plan for their children with special needs in order to have the most consistent and effective care. Furthermore, my experience with Special Olympics has allowed me to spend time with athletes of all ability levels and learn how to adjust the environment to promote performance to their highest ability.
