A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Katie, and I have been babysitting for over 10 years. I have experience working with a variety of ages and love being able to help in any way I can! I am currently attending graduate school at University of Florida for a master’s in School Counseling. I love creating safe spaces for kids to grow and learn and hope to bring this mindset into my future counseling career. Before graduate school, I worked as an Instructional Assistant in both kindergarten and 2nd grade at a private school in Tampa, FL as well as many years as a summer camp counselor, where I taught music classes for children ages 4-7. Outside of babysitting, I am heavily involved in a barbershop quartet and sing with the Toast of Tampa Show Chorus as well. I also enjoy crafting, cooking, and being on the water!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I was a Kindergarten Instructional Assistant last year as well as a 2nd grade Instructional Assistant the year prior. I have worked as a summer camp counselor for many years with PreK-1st grade children. I was also a nanny for multiple families during my time in college, both for children age 9 and age 1.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love doing a lot of hands-on activities, whether that be playing with dolls, building a fort, doing a craft, etc. I always want to keep the children engaged in a way that doesn't always involve a screen!

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part about being a nanny is fostering a relationship with the child/ren that you are caring for. Providing a safe environment where they can feel comfortable enough to be themselves and explore the world around them is always my #1 goal. I want the children that I nanny for to use their imagination and enjoy the time that they have to simply be a kid!

My experience with special needs children...

I have worked with students on the Autism Spectrum in the past as well as babysat children with Down Syndrome.

The most important part about being a nanny...

A favorite babysitting moment of mine was building gingerbread houses with a child I had only babysat one other time before. We built the houses and then, at his request, took them outside and proceeded to smash them like The Hulk (his favorite super hero). I remember as we were picking up the pieces, he looked at me and told me that was the best day of his life. A funny but very sweet memory for sure!
