A little bit about me

Hi 👋 I'm Michaela but go by Kayla,I have a lot of experience taking care of children. I was a live in nanny for 3 kids with ages ranging from 3 to 15. I was with them for about a year and a half. And I have helped raise 10 of my family members including my own sisters as well as my cousins. I have helped with house work along side being a full time nanny. I made all 3 meals every day and helped the eldest and middle child with homework and after school plans or activities. I also did potty training and working on speech, colors,and shapes, and names with the 3 year old. I did household work like laundry, dishes, mopping,sweeping, and sanitary cleaning. I made all 3 meals for all the children the oldest was going to school online and the youngest was in afternoon school classes. So they were home most of the time. I also spent a little over a year as a DSP for mentally and physically handicapped people. And one of my sisters was physically handicapped by being in a wheelchair.

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I was a live in nanny for 3 kids, 3,6,15. I was with them for a year and a half. The oldest was going to school online, the youngest was in evening classes at the school and the middle was full time at the school. I helped with homework,Manners, potty training, after school plans or activities and everyday needs like bathtimes,meals and getting dressed. I prepped and made 3 meals and 3 snack times every day. I also did laundry, dishes and other household work. I helped with teaching the younger ones Manners,names and good and bad behavior as well as how to express their feelings without resorting to tantrums or violence. The oldest was extremely headstrong and rebellious so it was pretty difficult to get through to her but eventually we would come to an understanding and we would work things out together. Although sometimes it didn't work so I would have to talk to the parent about her behavior or actions and those times usually helped.

My experience with special needs children...

I have cared for my sister who was in a wheelchair with cyribril pulzy (definitely miss spelled that🤦‍♀️), but anyway I was helping her with everything from bathtimes to giving her her medication to changing her diaper/depends. And even helping her try new food when she passed her swallowing test. We went for walks around the park and watched movies together. She would often like to mess with me by taking control of all the electronics in the house including my TV lol. There for the longest time she couldn't say anything or do much physically. But when she was 17 she was one of the youngest people to get a chip in plant at the base of her head and with it she was finally able to say at least 2 words ,mom and dad, as well as by this time she had been practicing writing her name and it was becoming legible more so then ever before. But she passed on 3 years later in her sleep. We were told she wouldn't live past 8 but she passed on at 20 years old.
