More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I also nannied a few years ago for a summer with a family that had 1 child, elementary aged.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love reading to kids. That was one of the things that I found myself thoroughly enjoying while working at the school. Bringing the characters to life and making the kiddos excited about the story was amazing. I also love spending time outdoors! If there is a park nearby with a playground, you can bet that I'll start a game of sharks and minnows. Any water: pools, beach, lakes is always a good time. There would be very little screen time involved while I am with your kids. I would also be more than willing to bring over crafts, painting, board games, etc to have fun. Baking is another thing I enjoy, I would love to involve your kids as much as possible with that. Fine motor skills will definitely be practiced (:
The most important part about being a nanny...
To me, taking care of someone else's kids is one of the most important jobs in the world. Something I want to stress is that I am completely willing to meet you where you're at. From the food you want your kids to eat, how you practice punishment, the activities you want them to do, all of it. I'm here for your family and what you think is best for them.
My experience with special needs children...
As I said I do have some experience with kiddos that have disabilities. I would say I have the most experience with Autism and Down Syndrome. But I also had kids that were blind and hard of hearing.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Not a nanny moment, but when I was in school we had our Valentine's Day party with the kindergarteners. They all went around putting their little valentines in each other's bag. My teacher and I had also put out our own bags, and I knew there would be a few kids that would put valentines in our bags. It was quite a whirlwind, akin to herding cats. By the end of it my lead teacher and I were exhausted but I looked in my bag and noticed that almost every single kid had put something in my box. It was so insanely sweet and something I'll hold onto forever! (:

Hello!
My name is Max Jones, I have over a decade of childcare and early childhood education experience. I have been teaching toddlers and preschool in a classroom setting since 2020, and prior to this I have worked as a DSP and a nanny.
I have loved my time in the classroom, but I am looking for a lower stress position with less hours. My experience teaching has given me an excellent foundation of knowledge and fun activities that also build math, literacy, and social skills. I am certified in CPR/First Aid for infants, children, and adults. I am registered in the Oregon Central Background Registry.
I moved to Salem, Oregon from South Carolina in 2018 to be with my LDR partner. After being here for a couple of years, I began my gender transition. I am passionate about inclusion and acceptance of all peoples, and have a diverse childrens library of books.
