More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have been babysitting my cousins since I was 11 years old so I’ve been able to watch them since they were newborns up through now as they are all school aged children. I have also nannied for a family with triplet infants and an older 6 yr old sibling.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
There are so many ways to engage children, for example I love good old fashioned dress up time where they can be anyone or anything they want to be. More structured activities like crafts or baking is also something I’m very passionate about. Additionally I think it’s really important children get time outside where they can not only be themselves and have an outlet for their energy but also appreciate the world that surrounds them.
My experience with special needs children...
My experience is limited, it does not extend past autism as my one cousin has been diagnosed with autism since a very young age.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of the babies I nannied had terrible acid reflux, they were on daily medication to aid with the discomfort and outside of when their reflux was acting up they were one of the happiest babies I’d ever met. I was always trying alternate ways to try to help and what I found was every time I took them outside to play in the grass the crying and discomfort seemed to melt away even mid tantrum (for lack of a better description). This sweet little soul was at their happiest when they could play outside in the fresh air and wouldn’t ever cry or show signs of being in pain. I was beyond elated to find that breakthrough and plan activities around being able to keep them in environments that worked for them where they could be their happiest.
