A little bit about me

I’m a 19 year old with a history of taking care of children! I’ve babysat since 16, and have never passed on an opportunity. I’ve done everything from over-nights to babysitting a group going swimming while their parents had a drink! I'm extremely flexible and a night owl, but my dream hours would be 10-6. I am looking for part-time 2-4 times a week but will take a full-time job if I find a family that suits me. I love housework and cooking, so I'm useful for keeping your home managed. I have housekeeping at a nursing home and being a manager at Wendy's to vouch! and I have experience in janitorial work. I was a lifeguard for the city and know basic first aid and respiratory recovery but I’m not CPR certified. I will take the class if provided, as I want you to feel like you're child is in your own hands! If you have any questions please ask!!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I was the second oldest of 5 and cared for my younger siblings because my step-mom was sick. I worked at McMillen pool as a lifeguard for a summer and often has to aid children who were unsupervised. I’ve done many short-term sitting jobs, like weekends, over-nights, etc.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love coloring with younger children, and arts and crafts with the mid age kids. I play guitar, so I love to listen to music and have dance parties. I’ve often taken kids swimming during the summertime, as I’m a water bug. I’ll watch cartoons, play with toy cars on the floor, and I really enjoy cooking and meal prepping with older children! I'm very active and hands-on. I love adventure and teaching children new things! I'd love to be able to utilize the splash pad and park, the zoo and it's picnic area, or even just looking for rocks!

The most important part about being a nanny...

I want to have a positive impact on the children I take care of. I want to be someone they look forward to seeing and “hanging out with”. I want to be a trusted adult for not only the kids, but also for the parents to rely on.

My experience with special needs children...

My little brother was diagnosed with autism and has learning disabilities. I often had to help him “catch-up” (ABA) and I enjoyed making learning fun for him and not a chore. My sister has ADD and ADHD, so I know how to keep a kid busy! My step-brother had anger issues, along with ADHD. I learned how to de-escalate overreactive children or learn what environments make your child overstimulated.

Outside of my family, I babysat a baby with immune issues who was frequently sick. I had to do first aid and medicine distribution frequently and it was often high-stress.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I discovered a love for video games through nannying Jackson, a 5 year old boy. He taught me the buttons and told me "Candle you should get one!"...so I did! He's 8 now and we still have video game play dates!!

On a sweeter side...
I babysat occasionally for a family who's son had autism. He was the sweetest boy who loved to talk about cars, planes, and trains! His mom and dad had trouble getting him to communicate with strangers but we clicked instantly. It was overwhelming for his mother but she was thankful. After a few "hang-outs", I was still comfortable to him. His mother sobbed to me and explained the difficulty of finding patient and understanding people outside the family. I want to impact every child I meet in a positive way, as I didn't have many "trusting adults."
