More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Teacher at the Village School in Houston, taught K-5 classroom violin. Also ran the middle school and high school after school orchestras. In addition, I taught private violin & piano lessons for around 8yrs to all ages. My nanny experience was for a lovely family, but ended when the pandemic started. The little girl was almost 1yo, and the little boy was 5yo. I’d spend around 6hrs each day with them. Usually at home but sometimes took the car and did field trips (Doseum, the park, jumpy spots, etc)
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Making cookies (or different recipe) together; art projects; make believe games (I’ve got a few, but often the kids will come up with their own); playing schoolyard games like hide & seek, etc; having movie theatre afternoon; making contained messes for sensory stimulation (painting w/ pudding — but everything is covered and we have smocks)
My experience with special needs children...
I cared for a highly functioning autistic child as a babysitter from age 10 through college, so around 11yrs. My mom was an OT and I spent a lot if time during summers at her work and helping with their daycare (Down syndrome, and cerebral palsy). I meet children where they’re at, mentally or emotionally, and adapt to their needs.
