I have been babysitting since I was 10 years old. I still babysit for these families every now and then when schedules line up to this day. I have worked in multiple daycares, and a private school. I worked as a behavior technician this past year, and am certified in the state of California/Washington as an RBT/CBT.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love any outside activity on a nice sunny day. I also love any sort of arts/crafts activity. Honestly, any interactive play I enjoy.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part of being a nanny is connection. I believe you need to have a good connection with the kids, so they respect you and enjoy your company. It creates trust between you and them which leads to a good balance of authority and fun. It is also good with the nanny and parents as it creates trust. The parents will have a good connection with you which leads to more trust when it comes to their kids. I also think connection is a good foundation to have a good long-term relationship that feels more like a family than professional.
My experience with special needs children...
I worked at ABS Kids from August 2025-December 2025. I unfortunately had to move which prevented me from keeping this job. I worked directly under BCBA's with clients who were diagnosed with autism.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment is when I would first get to the house. The youngest daughter, who was of toddler age at the time, would be thrilled to see me. I would be greeted with so much excitement. It warms my heart when the kid is excited and happy to see me.
