I have just finished my fourth year of teaching middle school special education. I have taught students within the general education, students with learning disabilities, students with mild to moderate needs, and most recently, students with behavior needs.

During my four years of teaching, I have also taken on the responsibility to coach multiple sports. I was given the opportunity to coach girls basketball, boys basketball, volleyball, soccer, and track & field.

In my "free" summers, I have tutored elementary and middle school students in reading and math the past 3 years.

I also love to travel. I recently went on a 3 week backpacking trip in Europe. After 26 years of living in Nebraska, I have decided to make the move to California!

Hi! First and foremost, I am one of four siblings. My experience started at a young age of implementing an adopted brother into my family. I have two younger brothers who I have helped care for. As well as babysitting neighbors and family friends. I've cared for ages ranging from 1-15 years old. I am CPR certified and First Aid trained. I was a camp counselor for three years. I am reliable and friendly and provide a supervised and safe environment for your children. I'm willing to do additional tasks if needed. Super interactive and love to do stuff with children like going to the park or zoo. I am a junior at Chapman University working towards a degree in strategic and corporate communication and leadership studies. I drive a safe reliable car with a clean driving record. Because I am a student, my hours vary but I am pretty free Monday-Thursday during the summer other than a couple of weeks in July.

From a young age I have always had an interest and desire to work with children but I was unsure exactly what that would look like.
While completing my undergraduate degree in Psychology I was able to take courses in child development and was immediately intrigued by how children develop from embryo to adolescence. This sparked a passion for child development and I began my work in a kindergarten classroom where the focus was play based and the children were their own leaders or mini teachers. From here, I started to work with older children more specifically one little boy with Autism. We worked together one on one for a year through modification of academic, emotional and social aspects within the classroom setting.
Outside of the education system I found myself caring for a 6- month old and had the wonderful opportunity to watch her grow not only physically but socially and emotionally as well until 2 years old. From here I had the opportunity to nanny for 4 months as a live-in in Los Angeles, California, caring for a family of two children aged 15 months and 3 years old.
Child care aside I find myself happiest when I am helping others. I am a compassionate and loyal person who values integrity and honesty to the utmost. I believe in my strengths as a childcare professional but am always open to new learning and different perspectives.
I am looking to join a family and become apart of your household.

Understand Babysitter Responsibilities in Costa Mesa, CA

Before beginning the search for a babysitter, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a babysitter is the right choice for your child care needs. There are lots of benefits to hiring a babysitter such as getting the flexibility of having some more time for yourself or with your partner. When hiring a babysitter, first, you should explore the differences between a nanny and a babysitter. If you’re looking for occasional child care, babysitters are the right choice for you, but if you’re looking for more frequent care, a nanny may be better for your needs.

From there, you can think about what you expect your babysitter to handle so that you can create a profile for nannies to reach out to you. The boundaries for babysitters’ duties can vary from family to family. However, in general, a babysitter is responsible for making sure your kids’ needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example to housekeeping, laundry, or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your babysitter before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location in Costa Mesa can impact how much you pay your babysitter.

Costa Mesa Babysitter Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective babysitters, the next step is to conduct an interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some babysitter interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a babysitter?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open and comfortable doing?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in California?
  • Do you have a California driver’s license? Do you own a car?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a babysitter that you’re considering hiring, make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your babysitter. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around babysitter responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming!

And of course, as you learn how to hire a babysitter, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
