Hi! My name is Laila, and I’m 20 years old. I have a lot of experience working with children and genuinely enjoy creating a fun, safe, and positive environment for them. I have worked with kids through gymnastics and have also worked in children’s programs at my church. I have completed three semesters of student teaching, which gave me hands-on experience working with children in a classroom setting and helped me learn how to be patient, responsible, and attentive to each child’s individual needs. I was previously an Elementary Education major at IU Southeast, but I recently switched to General Studies and will be graduating in May. My class schedule is very flexible since I only have classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 12:15 PM, which allows me to have plenty of availability for a nanny position. More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have worked with children in several different settings, including gymnastics, children’s programs at my church, and elementary school classrooms through three semesters of student teaching. These experiences have given me a lot of hands-on experience with different ages, personalities, and needs. I have also gained experience keeping children engaged, helping with learning activities, and creating a fun and safe environment.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love doing activities that keep children active, creative, and engaged. I enjoy playing outside, going to the park, doing arts and crafts, playing games, reading books, helping with homework, and finding fun activities based on what each child enjoys. I also love letting kids use their imagination and having fun with them!

The most important part about being a nanny...

I think the most important part of being a nanny is making sure children feel safe, loved, heard, and cared for while their parents are away. I believe a nanny should be someone a family can completely trust. I also think it is important to be patient, responsible, dependable, and willing to make each child feel special while still maintaining the routines and expectations their parents have established.

My experience with special needs children...

During my three semesters of student teaching, I had the opportunity to work in elementary classrooms with children who had special needs. This taught me the importance of patience, understanding, flexibility, and meeting each child where they are. I also live with my boyfriend and have helped care for his brother, who has special needs. This has given me additional personal experience with caregiving and understanding the importance of creating a comfortable, supportive, and positive environment for a child with different needs.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite moments with children are when they become comfortable enough to be completely themselves around me. I love when a child gets excited to see me, wants to show me something they made, or tells me about something they are interested in. Those little moments make me feel like I have built a genuine connection with them and that they feel safe and comfortable around me.
