Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I was a nanny for a single mother of 4 boys with a set of twins aging 4-11. I was with her for 4 years and whenever she needed extra set of hands for help. I would take them and pick up from school, help with practices afterschool, homework help was always done when she arrived home along with a cooked meal. I would make lunches and snacks per her guidelines, did light house cleaning along with taking care of their pup. I was loving attentive stern when needed but made sure her boys knew they were loved. To this day whenever they see me it’s always smiles hugs and just a lot of love. To say I did my job right is a complete understatement.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love to be silly and goofy. So anything that helps their personality shine is what I love most. Park dates, play dates, and everything in between as long as their day is filled with laugh fun and adventure I’m willing to do anything. The most important part about being a nanny...
Most important part of being a nanny is making sure the children know that even though I may not be mommy or daddy that I’m someone who will never allow them to be or get hurt. That I’m someone who can teach right from wrong but also allow them to be themselves in the process. Being caring but also a little firm but being consistent is what most children need. I know that the parents need that safety net and I want to be the one they can confide in as that extra pair of hands needed to help their life run smoother
My experience with special needs children...
My son is on the spectrum so he has taught me a lot about patience and understanding when it comes with children with special needs. No child is “hard” if you’re willing to take the time they need to adjust and be comfortable.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny part is when I pick them up from school and they run to me and I open my arms and receive the biggest hug! To walking in the door and having their toddler smile seeing I’m with them for the day. Watching them taking their first steps and seeing the excitement in their parents eyes have to some of my favorite moments. Just watching the child warm up and letting me in and them knowing they’re in good hands is also a moment I can never forget.
