The most important part about being a nanny...
I believe the most important part about being a nanny comes down the 3 things. Being human, respect, and patience. I think what some people forget is that children are going to be children. Meaning they’re going to have their off days, they’re going to do things that frustrate you, but you have to give them the same respect you give anybody else.every day is a new day and a new beginning. Not everyday is going to be easy but that’s why you need to love kids in order to do this job. It’s all about patience. I know for me I have dealt with a lot of anxiety and trauma as a child and I would hate to make any kid feel the way I did.
My experience with special needs children...
I have worked with 3 children with autism while working at a daycare for 2 years. They deserved and needed a lot of attention, guidance, and support amongst the other kids but we tried our best to make them feel as apart of the class as everyone else.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I had a child who could not potty train for her mother. Her mom just had a second child and this first child was so used to being the only one with mom and dads attention so she wouldn’t use the bathroom on her own. She felt like if she would start potty training then she wouldn’t have her parents attention anymore. I explained to her that she would have her parent’s attention even more if she used the bathroom on her own because her parents would be proud of her and they could celebrate It was funny and interesting to see how her mind changed about potty training once I explained it to her in a different way.
