My experience with special needs children...
I was a teaching assistant for a special education class for approx. 3 months in which I was dealing with about 20 kids for an hour and a half every week day for 3 months. During this period, I was tasked with keeping each student on task, and if one student could not focus, I would take them off to the side and try to calm them down and keep them focused. In the context of the classroom setting, I would take them off to the reading corner, offer them alternatives to the activity (like puzzles, reading, etc) and when they were calm and more interested in learning the lesson, I would sit and work with them. This taught me different tactics when handling children with different and unique needs.

Hi im Shirley I started in 2004 in Chicago I moved there and all the neighbors had children and Im a outgoing lady and all the children took to me they all started calling me Auntie Shirley I started watching 2 girls from 6am to 8am then take them to school they would take bus home get dropped off at corner I would get them at 3pm their mom would get home at 6pm I also watched my niece Zaria I would pick her up from school at 12pm and watch her until 4pm .I moved back to California in 2011 and started watching my grandson Jr Evalani I would pick her up from school at noon then she started going until 3pm and Jr was enrolled in school I would pick him up at 2pm my daughter went to Chaboy college so they let Jr go to preschool there fkr free so I would just pick him up at 2pm then at 3pm pick up Evalani at 3pm and watch them until 5pm or 6pm .I also watched my 3 other grandkids they went to all yr around school when they were on vacation I would watch them from 7pm to 6pm everyday .
