Hi, my name is Haley. I am currently a sophomore at Boise State University and am home for the summer. I have years of experience working with children of all ages and especially love to work with babies. I am very organized and enjoy cooking and cleaning. I have previous experience working as an intern at Stanford Health Care ValleyCare in both the Emergency Department and Critical Care Unit, so I am also skilled in medical care, even with infants. In order to have this position in the hospital I also had to get my CPR certification. I have an open schedule with flexible hours.

I’m a fun spirited nanny that teaches children, patience, creativity, responsibility, and love. I’ve been a nanny for over 7 years. All the families I’ve cared for would tell you the kids loved to be with me everyday. I was the fun nanny. I love being silly with kids, singing songs, playing dress up, parks and swimming! I care for children not only because I love them, but because I understand them. And I understand the parents’ needs. Naps will be taken, homework will be done, medicine, bath time, bed time etc, everything on the “ to-do list” gets checked off with me.

Hi, my name is Jenny. I am 23 years old and live in Pleasanton. I speak both English and Spanish fluently. I have my own car, my own insurance, and a nearly perfect driving record (one speeding ticket while driving home to Arizona). I love to cook, clean, grocery shop, and run errands. I have been caring for kids for my entire life. I am the oldest of 4 and have one sister and two brothers. Growing up I always helped my Mom take care of them and as soon as I turned 11, I started babysitting the other kids in my neighborhood. I love children and have watched up to six children at a time. I have experience dealing with kids of all ages; from newborn to 18 years old. I also have experience with some special needs situations such as bi-polar disorder, ADD, and ADHD. I have 24 younger cousins including three sets of twins, all of whom I have cared for (one of which has a feeding tube). For the last 5.5 years that I lived in Arizona, I taught swim lessons to children ages 6 months to 13 years old.

I have an innate passion for children and cannot wait to be a mommy myself someday, when the time is right. I am the second child, out of four, and have cared for my younger brother and sister ever since I was young. I was definitely my "mom's little helper" growing up. After taking a standard baby-sitting and CPR certification course in 2001, I have had the great pleasure of baby-sitting and working as a nanny for over two dozen families since then. I have watched infants (8 months old) to teenagers (16 years old), taking on responsibilities such as household duties, tutoring, transportation to and from sports practices, etc. I've had many babysitting and nannying opportunities since starting childcare at just 10 years old, and I'm blessed to have worked with so many great families and kids. Because I like to keep my schedule pretty flexible and continue working for as many families as I can while attending college classes, I've had about 2-5 regular families these past few months who use me on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. Sometimes it's just for a date night here or there and other times they need me to stay help with homework or watch their children while they work or have meetings. It really varies and I'm always willing to help out. For one family in particular, I teach their kids piano lessons once a week as well as assist them with tutoring when needed. The parents recently flew down to Mexico on a golfing trip for 8 days (which is the first time they had gotten to take an extended vacation as a couple since they got married)! They really appreciated my role living with their 3 kids (ages 11, 14, & 17) for the week they were gone. I dropped off and picked up the kids from school, prepared meals, did house cleaning duties, cared for their pets, carpooled to after school activities, and more. I was literally "mom" for the week and it definitely gave me insight to how incredible a mother's role with their kids really is! What a busy yet rewarding week I will never forget. I definitely learned a lot and don't know what role I didn't take on with that family while the parents were away.

I've worked as an au pair for two years, taking care of twins, since they were one to three years old (2009-2011). I have also worked in a daycare in Brazil, taking care of a class of 15 kids, with ages ranging from 3 to 5 years old.

My past experience includes babysitting from 8th grade through high school. I babysat for the same multiple families throughout the years. All the families had children of varying ages, from infancy to 13. I stopped babysitting after my senior year in high school because I left to go to college at UC Irvine. I would have wanted to being a nanny in college, but I did not have a car my first two years, and the third year was very demanding with schooling and did not have enough time to dedicate to a job.

How to Find a Babysitter in Pleasanton, CA

Nanny Lane is a child care website meant to help you find a babysitter in your area. Our child care services include background checks, PLUS, and payroll.

Understand Babysitter Responsibilities in Pleasanton, CA

Before beginning the search for a babysitter, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a babysitter is the right choice for your child care needs. There are lots of benefits to hiring a babysitter such as getting the flexibility of having some more time for yourself or with your partner. When hiring a babysitter, first, you should explore the differences between a nanny and a babysitter. If you’re looking for occasional child care, babysitters are the right choice for you, but if you’re looking for more frequent care, a nanny may be better for your needs.

From there, you can think about what you expect your babysitter to handle so that you can create a profile for nannies to reach out to you. The boundaries for babysitters’ duties can vary from family to family. However, in general, a babysitter is responsible for making sure your kids’ needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example to housekeeping, laundry, or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your babysitter before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location in Pleasanton can impact how much you pay your babysitter.

Pleasanton Babysitter Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective babysitters, the next step is to conduct an interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some babysitter interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a babysitter?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open and comfortable doing?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in California?
  • Do you have a California driver’s license? Do you own a car?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a babysitter that you’re considering hiring, make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your babysitter. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around babysitter responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming!

And of course, as you learn how to hire a babysitter, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
