A little bit about me

I am one of eight children in a blended family, five of whom are younger than me, and I have been a part-time babysitter my whole life. I have worked in many different fields; however, the most fulfilling one is my current job. Currently, I work at Winwood Children's Center in Gainesville, Virginia. It is an amazing opportunity, unfortunately, I cannot continue full-time work. This August I am doing online school through Laurel Ridge Community College in order to obtain my RN. I am looking for a family that can be understanding of this. Hopefully, we can work together around both of our schedules and according to our needs.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Currently, I work at Winwood Children's Center as an Infant Teacher. While my class was for children 6 weeks to 1 year old, I was often sent to other rooms to care for children of all ages.
Also, I have babysat neighbors and family friends since I was 12 years old. These families requested me to watch their children because they know I am one of eight children. And five of them are younger than me, so I have been trusted to watch my siblings for many years.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love going for walks, whether it be around the neighborhood or going on a hike! And going to do fun excursions like Urban Air, the pool, or going to a library. Furthermore, reading books is a very fulfilling pastime and can be very helpful developmentally for children.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The child's experience is the most important part of nannying. They need to feel safe and secure with their nanny. And look forward to spending time with them consistently.
Also, the expectation of parents is met. They also need to feel safe and secure with their nanny and the experience their child(ren) are having. All of their requested needs should be met.

My experience with special needs children...

I do not have any occupational experience with special needs children. The most I can state is that throughout grade school, my teachers often paired me with students with needs. Mainly because I was always very kind and understanding of them. Also, I enjoyed seeing them succeed.

The most important part about being a nanny...

An infant girl I had been with for a few months, who had severe stranger danger, finally warmed up to me. It was so surreal and fulfilling to see how, in such little time, she started to like me. Eventually, she would want me when she was upset or when she was ready to nap.
