The most important part about being a nanny...
Making my children feel comfortable is the most important part. I try my best to make them feel like I’m their friend rather than just someone who their parents pay to take care of them. This allows for them to truly be themselves and it allows me to care for them better, as I get to know what they like and dislike.
My experience with special needs children...
For the past 2 years I’ve worked at a behavioral therapy company for children with autism. I’ve had cases with children as small as 2 and as big as 16. All children have different needs and different approaches and I like taking them time to build rapport and understand the children so they feel comfortable and heard.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Children have no filter… and it’s something I’m so used to but some of the girls I use to care for had never really seen me with a lot of make up until one day they did and they asked me if I had finally gotten a boyfriend. It was hilarious because it was so innocent but it made me realize just as much as I focus on their small details they focus on mine as well
