Relevant experience where I cared for children includes babysitting for another family and working as a counselor at a retreat. I loved spending time with children ages 6–8, helping them have fun, stay engaged, and feel comfortable.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
If the weather is nice, I love to visit playgrounds and go on walks with the kids. If the weather isn't as good, I also love to play board games and plenty of other fun indoor activities. I also love cooking and arts so I love to include children in those activities as well. I try to get to know the children and their hobbies because it lets them feel more comfortable and open with me. Overall, i'm open to a variety of different activities, indoor and outdoor:)
The most important part about being a nanny...
I believe the most important thing about being a nanny is making the child feel heard, understood, and appreciated. I know from my experience, my babysitters would often not provide me with that environment and it did not feel good at all. Therefore, I try to not make the same mistakes when I am babysitting. I also make sure to take into account that kids aren't perfect and they all make mistakes, thats what make them grow into responsible people. Instead of making them feel bad for them, I try to talk to them about how to learn from them.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I funny moment iv'e had with one of my children was when I was putting him to sleep, but he was refusing to go to sleep until I read him a book. He ended up picking a book about beetles in alphabetic order. Of course, I did not and could not read him the entire book but ended up reading him about half. He fell asleep at approximatly letter E, but I still kept on reading because I was afraid he would wake up. I still think about that moment today and still find it funny:)
