More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I got child care experience at a very young age. I was around 13 years old when i started babysitting my cousins. 4 and 6 years old then i also babysat the newborn. All day and over night on weekends. I did that for a while. Then i would babysit for my cousins friends who also had small children. Not to mention i have a sister 16 years younger and a brother 18 years younger than me. When i was 19 i took a nanny job in Pennsylvania for 3 children. I use to babysit my sisters two boys all week from 7am to 7 pm usually. I am currently nannying a little boy that’s a little over a year and a half old! that’s only the highlights… I’ve nannied and babysat so many children i probably can’t keep count.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I’m a very outdoorsy person, i love the water! A favorite of the kids is usually big hunting, and by that i mean usually I’ll flip over rocks and maybe they’ll see a worm or a beetle. I am very fond of getting out and whether that’s to a park or to the creek it’s all fun to me! I love playing puzzles and board games! I love movies and coloring! I have a very large variety of all the activities i love to do with the kids. And babies are easy i love taking them to experience developmental activities and sensory activities!
The most important part about being a nanny...
I think a lot of children lack empathy and compassion from adults. They are learning how to express themselves, learning who they are and how to control their emotions. As a nanny/babysitter and even just being human. I think it’s us adults that need to influence compassion while letting kids explore who they are and what they want to be come. We offer guidance and genuine emotions to them. Engaging and being aware of a child’s needs and wants to feel proud of themselves and validated is so important to their development of their confidence and so much more that will shape them. My favorite part of being a nanny/babysitter is that i get to help influence and offer support and see what these young kids blossom into.
My experience with special needs children...
I don’t have experience with children with special needs. However i am not opposed to it and a very fast learner once i jump in!
The most important part about being a nanny...
I have so many moments with all of them.. when my nephew was just learning to walk he used to come up to me in the summer time and make me spray the hose water in his mouth to drink. Looked like a little wet dog.
When my sister was a baby she would wake up in the middle of the night and we shared a room so she had her crib and i had a loft bed. So I’d crawl down and she wanted to sleep in my bed so we’d crawl up there, and she would put both hands on both my cheeks and we’d touch noses and she’d fall asleep like that. You could say she’s my person.
When i nannied in Pennsylvania my favorite moment with the children who were 7, 9 and 6 months old, was in there boat. We saw dolphins unexpectedly, we rode the inter tube and it was just pure bliss. They were my little cuddle bugs. Whether it was at the house and we were lounging outside playing mermaids in the pool or even a bed time movie night. The little girl was always my side kick even for a quick coffee run.
