A little bit about me

Hello my name is Mackenzie! I am currently studying to become a teacher while working as a preschool 3 teacher. I have always had a passion in school, as well as caring for children. So, I knew education is the right path for me. I am hoping to find a job that will allow me to follow my dreams while in school. I take online courses, so my hours are practically unlimited. On my free time I like to read, paint, and bake. I also watch Netflix a lot when I do have time. I love animals, having three dogs, a lizard, and a good handful of chickens at home (pictures of them are always a hit with children!)

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Currently I am studying to become a teacher while working full time. Most recently I have been working as a lead preschool teacher at a nation-wide known preschool. As an lead teacher, I worked with kids as young as 6 months and as old as 12 years old. I changed diapers, meal prepped, and entertained the younger children with educational videos and song. The older kids, I helped with their distance learning while keeping the school day exciting. With COVID throwing the whole world for a loop, I have decided I am more comfortable working with a single family in order to lower the chances to bring the virus into my home. Before becoming a preschool teacher I nannied for two families and I loved it so I am really hoping to be able to find a new position. Additional experience includes: I have been babysitting for over six years now, as well as tutored since I was about 11 years old. I can meal prep and help educate children while we all have fun!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Two of my favorite activities to do inside with children are freeze dance and shape/color bingo. While working in my Preschool classroom, these games were always a big hit! When outside I like to play duck duck goose and even freeze tag. I always participate in activities with the children, in order to get them more engaged and excited about every activity.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Being a nanny is a big responsibility. It is taking responsibility for someone else’s child. This responsibility is the most important thing to remember. However, it is also important to show love and compassion, as well as have fun!

My experience with special needs children...

I nannied for a family with a daughter with cerebral palsy and an epilepsy disorder. I cared for her almost like a caretaker, but I loved every second of it! I also cared for a child with ADHD and dyslexia. This was most certainly a challenge when it came to school work, but relating the struggles to my own with add helped and we pushed through. I love working with special needs children, I am even getting my special needs certification!

The most important part about being a nanny...

One time after nannying for a few months, I was packing up to leave. The oldest girl of the four I nannied for noticed I was preparing my belongings to go home. So, she began to prepare her own saying “I want to sleep at Kenzie’s house tonight, she is my best friend.” This lit my heart and I still feel the warmth in my heart. Obviously she stayed home that night, but I made sure to have some quality time with her the next day I was working.
