Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love hiking and swimming! I worked for 5 years as a lifeguard and swim instructor so rest assured your child(ren) will be safe at the beach with me. I love baking and cooking as well, and kids always love to be involved with measuring things out and being helpers. Arts and crafts are another great go-to, especially on rainy days.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part of nannying to me is building a connection with the kids. It makes the fun times even more meaningful. More importantly, when a challenging moment arises it's much easier to know how to best support that kid and redirect negative feelings towards positive action. This helps develop healthy, coping mechanisms, conflict resolution skills, and problem solving skills.
My experience with special needs children...
I worked with kids with special needs for 3 summers doing water therapy and swim lessons. I have experience with kids with cognitive and/or physical disabilities.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite moments nannying was coming back from a short break after one of my kids was sick and finding that the new stuffed animal I had dropped off for him was now his favorite stuffy. When I tucked him in at nap he fell asleep holding it so tight and it just warmed my heart.
