My younger sister and me are 7 years apart and my younger brother and me are 14 years apart. So, growing up i’ve always been the “babysitter” or “second mom” with my siblings and so i’ve experienced a lot when it comes to all ages of children.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
This summer, as a nanny, I’d plan fun activities to keep the kids entertained. We could go on nature walks, have scavenger hunts, and do arts and crafts like painting and making bracelets. On hot days, we could bake cookies or cupcakes together. Themed days like “superhero day” or “science day” with simple experiments would be exciting. Reading time would also be included to encourage a love for books. The goal is to mix physical activity, creativity, and learning to keep the kids engaged all summer!
My experience with special needs children...
Working with autistic kids and those with ADHD at the YMCA was rewarding. I learned to adapt activities to suit their needs, creating a supportive environment. For autistic kids, structured routines and visual aids were key. With ADHD kids, I focused on engaging activities to keep them interested. It was a joy to see their progress and build connections with each child.
