A little bit about me

Hi families! I’m Maira, and caring for children has been my heart and joy for over 15 years. From snuggles with newborns to fort-building with toddlers and homework help with grade-schoolers, I’ve done it all and I absolutely love it. I enjoy weaving Montessori-inspired play, sensory fun, arts and crafts, painting, reading, cooking projects, and lots of imagination into daily routines so children feel happy, safe, and curious about the world. Families can count on me for structure, reliability, and flexibility. I am CPR and First Aid certified, have a spotless driving record, and live a smoke-free, pet-friendly lifestyle. I also love cooking, light housekeeping, and teaching Spanish in playful ways if parents would like.

Alongside my hands-on nanny work, I’ve also supported placement agencies in Las Vegas and Reno, where I interviewed families and nannies, trained caregivers, and wrote bios. This gives me unique insight into what helps families and nannies succeed together.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were during my 15+ years as a professional nanny and sitter, providing care for infants through teens in private homes, hotels, and travel settings.

I worked long-term with families in Las Vegas, supported visiting families through hotel and resort babysitting, and provided flexible overnight, live-in, and travel nanny care both domestically and internationally.

I also supported placement agencies in Las Vegas and Reno, where I interviewed and matched families with caregivers. In each role, I created safe, nurturing, and engaging environments through reading, crafts, sensory play, outdoor activities, and structured routines, while also handling meal prep, light housekeeping, and pet care.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Activities I enjoy doing with children include trips to the park, story time at libraries, arranging playdates, and planning fun outings. At home, I love reading, arts and crafts, painting, building forts, cooking kid-friendly meals, and creating sensory play activities. I enjoy combining hands-on learning with imaginative play so children can explore, grow, and have fun every day.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part about being a nanny is building trust and creating a safe, loving environment where children can grow and thrive. It’s not only about caring for their daily needs, but also about nurturing their curiosity, supporting their milestones, and helping them feel secure and confident. I believe being a nanny means becoming a reliable partner for the family while giving children the foundation for happy and healthy development.

My experience with special needs children...

My experience with special needs children includes caring for children with Down syndrome, ADHD, and autism. I focus on creating a safe, patient, and supportive environment while adapting activities to each child’s individual needs. I incorporate structure, consistency, and positive reinforcement to help build confidence, encourage independence, and make learning fun. I also work closely with parents to follow routines, therapy goals, and strategies that support the child’s development and overall well-being.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite nanny moment was watching a shy toddler I cared for build confidence over time and proudly sing their favorite song in front of their parents for the first time. Seeing that growth and knowing I had a role in helping them feel safe, encouraged, and supported reminded me why I love being a nanny.
